Nancy M. James

Nancy M. James Nancy M. Neudorfer, a long-time Nevada City resident, passed gently away at the age of 80 at her home in Lincoln on August 16, 2013, after bravely battling breast cancer for 8 years.

Nancy was born in Oakland in 1932 to parents Albert and Christina James. She graduated from Oakland High School and married her husband, Ivan Neudorfer, in 1951. They raised their family in Castro Valley. Soon after her husband passed away in 1982, Nancy moved to Nevada City and worked at an electronics company, Grass Valley Group, as a receptionist and administrative assistant for many years, retiring at age 75 in 2007.

Nancy had a love of gardening, antiques, shopping, and home decorating, but her greatest joy of all was her family.

She is survived by her sister, Doris Yates of Sacramento; daughter, Jean Benson (Chuck Frevele) of Lincoln; and son, Steven Neudorfer (Jane) of Gilbert, Arizona. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Christopher Benson (Teresa) of Rocklin; Emily Gallego (Kelly) of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota; Amanda Bratton (Joey) of Grass Valley; Todd Neudorfer of San Ramon; Hayley Hoffman (Dan) of Brentwood; and Heather Pretti of Danville.

'Gigi' will also be missed by her great-grandchildren Lillian, Elsie, Henry, Bradley, Nicholas, Brielle, and Dominic, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Kenneth James.

A private celebration of life will be held. Remembrances in Nancy's name may be made to a cancer charity of your choice.
