Randy was my big brother. He chose to graduate from Oakland High while I began at Skyline. He served in many areas of journalism as reporter, editor and photographer. He graduated from Cal State Hayward. He was in ROTC and served in the army in The Big Red One as an embedded photojournalist for The Stars and Stripes. He continued in journalism after the war, and began substitute teaching on the side. It was there that he discovered he had a passion for reaching students by using materials that appealed to them, and met their cultural and intellectual levels. He continued to improve in speaking Spanish to further this goal. Randy had renewed his passport and was hoping to travel to Spain this summer. Randy was a committed Christian, and also taught toddlers in his church for over 20 years. He had eagerly looked forward to his 50th reunion. It would be his prayer that he will reunite with his classmates in Heaven someday.
