Julius Adams
JULIUS MICHAEL ADAMS JR.
Julius Michael Adams Jr. was born in Oakland, Calif., on March 31, 1948, to Levada Jean Adams and the late Julius Adams Sr. He was one of three children born to this union. Julius spent his school-aged years in the Oakland area and graduated from Oakland High School. It was in high school that he developed a love for sports and music. He excelled in wrestling and played the trumpet for many years. His friends and family affectionately called him "Brother." Early in his career, Julius worked as an electrician for the United States Postal Service. He later worked as a security guard for Montgomery Wards and the Oakland Airport. Julius attended Williams Chapel A.M.E. Church in his youth, which later merged with two other churches in 1978 to become the present Brookins A.M.E. Julius enjoyed being around people and spending time with friends. He had a great sense of humor and was known for his talkative nature and happy-go-lucky attitude. He was a friend to many and made everyone around him feel welcomed. He departed this life on February 6, 2005, and leaves to cherish his memory a loving mother, Levada Adams; one sister, Marian Langford; one niece, Aisha Langford; one nephew, Akil Langford; one brother-in-law, Louis Langford; and a host of relatives and friends. The funeral will be held on Thursday, February 10, at 11 a.m. at Brookins A.M.E. Church, 2201 73rd Ave. in Oakland, CA 94605.
